154 seeks to engage a male performer for the development and national touring of ‘Rabbit Girl & The Search for Wonder’ – we are particularly keen to hear from actors who identify as being from a South Asian background.

A new storytelling production for children aged 3 to 8 and their families – this is a new production for small-scale theatre spaces and non-traditional community venues.

About 154 Collective:

154 Collective is an international, multi artform group, including Painters, Writers, Theatre Makers, Photographers, Animators, Dancers and Musicians. We create work in an array of artforms including theatre, exhibitions, publications, music albums and public art. We seek to tell stories from unusual and fun perspectives, exploring how the collaboration of artists and artforms can influence process and presentation.

Committed to involving audiences in the development of all our work, we find innovative ways to open up our process and provide ways for audiences to become co-authors in our work.

About ‘Rabbit Girl & The Search for Wonder’:

Rabbit Girl and the Search for Wonder is an immersive multi art form play which combines puppetry, performance, live music and animation to create a magical and intimate experience for an audience of up to 40.

Something impossible has happened, something no one saw coming.  So Rabbit Girl and her Dad have done what they do best – pulled on their boots, packed their tent and headed off into the wilderness.  Join them around the campfire to hear about some pretty awesome stories about some pretty awesome adventures.

This production is a commission from Creative Scene, the Creative People and Places project for North Kirklees (, created for the On Tour project and then wider touring to small-scale venues and community spaces. From the outset of the project, it has always been a key aim for both 154 Collective and Creative Scene to ensure that this work would fully reflect and represent the cultural diversity of the area in which it was commissioned.

Established by Creative Scene, On Tour is a partnership project with 5 community spaces and non-traditional venues in North Kirklees to programme high quality performance in the area, enabling families to access some of the best touring work on their doorstep.

In 2017, Creative Scene commissioned 154 Collective to undertake an R&D process to explore their ideas for Rabbit Girl and begin researching the stories they would use. In the summer, artist Fabric Lenny, writer/director Dan Mallaghan and musician Nick Lewis toured libraries across the Kirklees district running workshops with families.  The artists worked closely with families to develop, ideas, stories and characters for the production.

One of the outcomes of the R&D was a short animated visual storyboard which can be viewed here:

Please also see the Projects pages of our website, particularly ‘The Adventures of Walter Lemonface’ and ‘Cardboard Joe & The Book of Mysteries’ for a sense of the kind of family work we create:
